‘Til Death…

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

My beloved six-month old laptop is scheduled for euthanasia today.  I must box it up, and send it back to Dell.  If it would fit, I’d put it in the White House Black Market box that boded so ill for the shoe and the chickadee.  If I didn’t have to send it to Dell, I’d just bury it in the garden with the bird.  My expectation is that Dell will send me a new laptop.

Before the Dignitas, I took said laptop to Doogie Howser, IT Geek, and had him do a brain transplant onto my desktop CPU.  This was a grand plan, as it would mean all my data was in one place.  Writings, photos, whole pieces of my former life as a rising Intergalactic Princess that reside on the CPU will be available.  The operation went off without a hitch until we discovered that my desktop monitor is also dead as a chickadee or a stiletto.  The metaphors for death here abound.

Now, Rob wants to give me HIS monitor, so he can get a wide screen for work use.  That’s fine, but it will take approximately six months for him to find the time and energy to make this purchase.  Leaving me with a CPU.  Period.  My life in a box, with no key.  I’m wondering though, if Doogie can fix it up so I can connect the laptop monitor to the CPU.  That might work temporarily.

Too bad the shoe and the chickadee weren’t so lucky.

Update:  The Skull of the Unknown Mammal still is waiting for a jar….gotta remember to do that today.

Cheers,

J

I’d like more details on what went wrong with the Dell laptop as that’s what I’ve just bought!

Samsung makes some awesome monitors–just get one and don’t complicate your life any more than you have too!! I drool over them for photo processing. ;-p
